Rock School Mornings With These Six Tips

Back to school is here and it's time for busy early mornings once again.  Getting everyone ready and out the door on time can get pretty hectic.  Having everything organized and ready to go is key.

Here are 6 tips that will help you rock those school mornings!

1.  Prepare snacks ahead of time.

Using an organizing system (like this one) can help your kids pick their healthy snacks for themselves.  Keep everything together and within reach for the kiddos.  This is a huge time saver!

2.  Have a lunchbox packing system in place

Having a lunchbox packing system can save tons of stress in the morning.  Make a space in a low drawer, bottom of the fridge or pantry where your kids can reach all the tools they need to pack a healthy lunch.  Include napkins, sandwich bags, food containers, favorite foods and utensils.  Whether you have to pack the lunch or they do it themselves, having things together in once place makes it easier to get it ready in the mornings.

3.  Make outfits for the week.

You've heard about making outfits the night before, but what about making outfits for the whole week?  Picking them all out at once can save a lot of time during the week.

Hang them up in the closet or set up a closet organizer with some bins.  Have a basket set up for each day of school and include their shoes, socks and underwear as well as any accessories.  This will make it easier for them to get ready in the morning.

4.  Pack backpack every night before bed.

Packing the backpack every night guarantees all the homework gets done and everything that needed to be signed is signed.  Check all pockets, go through all the papers and throw anything that is not important, double check the homework and file away any papers to keep.  Make sure to also pack anything the teacher might be requesting for the next day.

5.  Make a morning schedule and post it up.

This one is mainly for the little ones but having a morning schedule posted gives them a visual of what needs to get done.  Make one yourself or have them help you by cutting pictures out of magazines.   You can personalize it any way you want.

Bonus tip:  Slide the schedule into a plastic pocket sleeve so they can check it off daily!

6.  Plan out breakfast menu in advance.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!  Plan out meals in advance so it won't be a surprise in the mornings.  It doesn't have to be anything fancy.  A simple yogurt with fruit or cereal should do the job.  Another thing I like to do is make biscuits the night before so all I have to do is heat them up in the morning.  This is a huge time saver!

If you're trying to adjust to the new school schedule and get organized, then these six tips are perfect for you!  They will have you rocking those school mornings in-no-time.
