Why I Make My Bed Every Single Day

I know you've heard it before...You should be making your bed every day.  And I'm sure you know the reasons why because everyone talks about them.  Well, take it from someone who did not like making the bed every morning...it's powerful, y'all!  I am now hooked!  (No joke!)

Here are a few more reasons why I make my bed Every. Single. Morning.  And why you should too.

Instantly makes my room feel cleaner

I like simple and easy solutions.  When our small space feels really cluttered I simply make the bed!  It really make a huge difference.  (Try it!  I promise you will see it too.)  My eyes are tricked into seeing a clean room instead of a messy one.  It also puts me in a mini cleaning mood.

Takes the stress away

Really, it does!  Seeing clutter can put stress on our mind and build anxiety from all the chaos.  Having a nicely made bed puts your mind at ease and makes the room feel inviting.  I know when I'm done making my bed, I just want to jump on top and relax!  Bonus points if the sheets are fresh! That should make for a good night's sleep.  Who doesn't love fresh sheets on their bed?  It's the best!

That's one thing I can accomplish everyday

Making the bed is a simple way for me to start the day off feeling like I accomplished something.  It's like a title wave of positive energy for the day.  Even if I haven't done many things on my to-do list, this one simple task makes up for it.  Don't get me wrong, I do sometimes skip making the bed in the morning before work but you can bet sometime after I get home and before bedtime that bed is getting made!

Random items don't end up under the covers

My daughter loves hanging out on my bed, and by hanging out I mean playing with her toys.  If I don't make the bed, I'm more likely to find some random toy under the cover when I'm ready to go to sleep.  True story...One time I woke up in the middle of the night because I thought there was an animal in my bed.  You can imagine my horror of feeling something near my feet while I'm off in dream land!  I woke up fast and tried to contain myself from screaming.  Luckily after some investigating, I found out it was only a toy.  (Thank goodness no rats!)

Don't make this simple task harder than it has to be.  Simply pulling the covers over and stacking your pillows on top is acceptable for bed making, I do it all the time.  I don't have a fancy way and it may not be perfect like those beautiful photos in magazines, but it works!

Do you make your bed every morning?  What are some reasons you do or don't make it?

I've linked this post up at these parties!

  2. Love freshly cleaned sheets at night! Especially if I can manage to wait to put them on from the dryer until it's close to bed time. Oh that's one of the best things ever!
I do not, however, make my bed in the mornings. When I was younger, I had to as part of my list of chores. As I got older, my mom was less strict about it. But making the bed certainly helped my bedroom feel cleaner. But now, in an apartment where we don't actually spend any time in the bedroom other than for sleeping, I don't even think about it. We get up, get dressed, and are in the rest of the house for the rest of the day (maybe pop back in once or twice for socks or a book or something), but we don't spend any time in there. And I'm fully capable (not in a good way!) of being able to block out the reminder that the bed is messy from my head until it's time to go to bed...and it works out alright, ha!
I understand the reasoning behind it. It really does make the whole room feel more put together and organized. But I don't *really* look at the bedroom. *Shrug* Maybe once it's less cluttered up, ha!

    1. Hi Jessica! You're lucky you have a door you can just close and not see the bed! Unfortunately we don't. :( This is another reason we make the bed every day, because we always see it. Oh, and LOVE waiting till bedtime to put on sheets! It's so awesome! =)

  6. Yes! I make our bed every day, and on the rare occasion that I don't, it really is depressing to walk into the room during the day and see the messy sheets all scattered. I've even made it late in the afternoon - just to make myself feel better.
