I have been on a mission to reach my goals in my health, beauty and rest.
I started working out last month, and by started working out I mean going to Zumba like four times and then stopping or walking/jogging for a week and that's it. If you follow me on Facebook or if you know me personally then you know that I signed up for a 5k Color Run in May.....MAY!! This will be my first ever run anything and I can tell you that I am in no shape for this what so ever! (Update, I did my first Color Run and it was amazing! I survived. I recommend everyone try it, I even saw little kids doing it.) I can barely jog more less run and I finally completed my first full week of Zumba and I feel like my legs are falling off! This post isn't about my journey to just getting fit though, but about accomplishing my goals.
I have come up with a way to motivate myself this time and stick with all my goals that I have from here on out (plus it helps me get a good night's sleep). I simply write in a journal every night before I go to bed.
I bought this binder at Target (Love that store!). It's a small one and I even bought the dividers and special paper for it. My categories are To-Do, Accomplishments, Health, Goals, Notes.
Befor I lay down, I get out my journal and go through each category. The way I categorized it is the most stressful thing first (what I have to do the next day) to the most motivational (which are goals and motivational notes to myself). The idea is as I go through each section I get more and more relaxed (better than being on my phone for 30 minutes before I turn out the light). Here is how I would write in each section.
-Meeting at 6pm
-Made it through Zumba!
-Went for a walk after
-Jogged a little
Ate healthy today except for that small piece of candy, did zumba, walked one lap and jogged half a lap.
-Go to sleep around 10:30 every night.
-Jog 1 mile nonstop.
-Drink more water!
You are a strong woman and can do anything you put your mind to!
This might sound silly, but believe me that it works. I go to bed feeling happier and less stressed! I try to focus on the positive things instead of the negative ones. It's also motivated me to keep trying! I know I can't turn into a runner within a month but I can push myself to where I know I can at least finish the whole 5k!
What things do you do to reach your goals and sleep better at night?
