It's day 15 of this 30 Day Neat & Tidy Challenge and that means we are half way done! Yes, you have organized half the items on your lists and not just organize, but decluttered too! Today your task is all about the Kid's Closet!
Unlike our closets, kid's closets do need a few extra organization steps. Since they are always growing and need new clothes, it's hard to keep their closets up to date. It's also hard to get rid of items too, but I know you can do it!
Here are the steps you need to complete this task.
-Get rid of any clothes that do not fit anymore. You can either donate, sell or save them for the next child.
-Keep sentimental clothes to a minimum. You don't need to keep all the dresses ever worn by your little girl...I too have been guilty of doing this.
-Use a hanging closet rod (like this one) to maximize the closet space.
-You can also use hanging shelves (like this one) to store outfits or shoes. This maximizes the vertical space you have in the closet.
-Use baskets or bins at the top or bottom of the closet to store the next size up clothes and shoes or out of season items. Make sure to label them so you know what's inside.
-Do you store toys here? Keep them to a minimum. Use baskets and cubbies at the bottom of the closet to keep things all together.
-Maximize door space with an over the door shoe organizer. You will be surprised what accessories you can store here! You can also use an over the door hook to hang bags or purses for those teens.
-Don't forget to hid the hamper here!
If you have any other tips for organizing a kid's closet, please leave them in the comments below. I'd love to hear them!
