Happy Wednesday! It's day 11 on this wonderful little organizing blog! What's on the list today? It's the Linen Closet. Don't get too excited, you have to save that energy for cleaning and organizing it. ;)
Let's get day 11 of this 30 Day Neat & Tidy Challenge started!
-Take everything out of your linen closet and throw any trash and expired items away.
-Clean shelves and place shelf liner if you are able to.
-Take out anything that doesn't belong here and relocate it.
-Use the highest shelf for extra toilet paper and other bulk items. You can also keep extra cleaners and cleaning supplies here too.
-Place a bin at the bottom of the closet for bulky personal care items (body soaps, shaving creams, shampoo, conditioners). The items will stay together and free up shelf space.
-Roll your bath towels instead of fold. This will give the closet an instant neat & tidy effect without the effort. (Tip: Don't worry about making them perfect. It's not gonna happen. The fact that they are rolled is enough. Make sure to show off the folded end like the ones above.)
-Keep extra hand towels here too or cleaning towels as well.
Other Organizing Tips
-You can use plastic boxes, baskets, mason jars and even spastic stackable shelves to organizer the rest of your items. Try finding things around the house to organize with first.
-Take things out of their boxes and throw the boxes in the trash. I find the boxes take up useful space. Things like contact solution, toothpaste, and shavers can be stored better without their packaging.
-If you store sheets here, fold the sets neatly and place them inside a pillow case to keep them together (Make sure the pillow case represents what sheets they are so you can find the set easily). Bulky items like comforters are better stored in space saver bags.
-Don't forget to use labels to remember where everything is.
-You can also use an over the door shoe organizer to store extra makeup, cleaners or bulk items.
*Super savvy organizer tip: If you travel often, or even at least 2-3 times a year, keep a packed toiletries bag here for each of your family members (or you can use one for everyone). Fill it with travel sized toothpastes, toothbrushes, body soaps, shampoos, shaving creams, shavers and other items you usually need on a daily basis. This will help you be ready for a trip no matter if it's a spur-of-the-moment or a planned vacation!
