30 Day Neat & Tidy Challenge: Day 10 - Medicine Cabinet
It's day 10 of this 30 Day Neat & Tidy Challenge! Wow, can you believe everything we've organized already? Take this little time to look at everything you have accomplished and give yourself a pat on the back before moving on to the next challenge!
Today's challenge is the Medicine Cabinet.
Your medicine cabinet is most likely located in the bathroom, but it's not actually ideal to store medicines there. Say what? Because bathrooms are considered damp places and they don't have steady temperatures it can actually make medicine chemicals change and make them less effective.
So what should you store here? Toothbrushes, makeup, shavers, shaving cream, ointments, nail polish, beauty tools and other items that won't be affected by the temperatures. Don't worry if you didn't know this! I've too been guilty of storing meds here. An ideal place would be in a kitchen cabinet farther away from the stove or even in a nightstand. You learn something new every day! Now on with the challenge!
Here's what you need to do.
-Take everything out of the cabinet and throw any expired items and trash.
-If you have meds here, relocate them.
-Clean the inside of the cabinet, maybe even the mirror too if it has one.
-Group like items together.
-Decide what you want stored here. Can you make it into a makeup storage or does the family need it for every day things?
-Use small long baskets to organize small items. You can buy a set of 2 or 3 of these at the dollar store or even Walmart.
-Command hooks and suction cups work well here too for toothbrushes and shavers.
Whatever you decide to store here, make sure it makes sense in this place. If you do your makeup in the bedroom, don't store it in the Medicine cabinet. Maximize this space to your advantage.
