Organized Snack Drawer

How many of you have a snack drawer in a place other than the kitchen?  We have ours in a night stand in the "living room" and it holds all of my two-year-old's snacks.  I chose the "living room" to hold a snack drawer because it's the room we spend most of our time in (And it sure holds up to it's name well since it also doubles as our bedroom, triples as Emma's play room, and quadruples as our computer and everything else room) so you can see why it made sense to make a snack drawer there!

I made sure to fill the drawer with lots of healthy snacks like raisins, crackers, water and even some squeezable fruit & veggie pouches (We've got to sneak in the veggies some how!).  We're in the midst of potty training, so we have the gummies handy as a treat when Emma goes number two, so far it's been working...WooHoo! =)

To give the drawer a pop of color, I simply used my trusty shelf liner to line the bottom of it.  I also chose a couple of small pink bins that I found in the Dollar section at Target and they fit perfectly in the drawer to separate her little snacks, but I also used the small clear Ziploc containers and they worked just fine as well.  You can buy them in a pack of 3 or4 at most stores, including Dollar Tree!

And lastly, we put a safety lock on the drawer!  I know if we didn't all the raisins and squeeze pouches would probably be gone in a second!

This idea is also great for a child's play room!  If we had enough room and Emma was able to have her own play room, I would definitely have a snack drawer for her in there!

How does your snack drawer look like?   Where do you keep it?  Is it for you or your little one?

Tools I Used:

1) Safety Lock:

  or

2) Shelf Liner:
(I LOVE this brand and use it for all my projects!)

  1. This is a good idea. I dont have the little baskets but maybe I can use the wipe cases and just snap off the lid? Hmmm I think it will work! :)

    1. That's a good idea Nancy! Using what you have and making it work for you is always a great solution.

I've also seen some bloggers making organizers out of their cereal boxes! Check out IHeart Organizing's post here on how she organized her desk drawer using boxes. --> http://iheartorganizing.blogspot.com/2013/01/diy-cereal-box-drawer-dividers.html

  2. I would throw out the juice boxes... I haven't bought one in ages since any little puncture may cause mold. Just google it!
