Who can have a Mickey/Minnie Mouse party without the ears? Buying them at the Disney Store or online can cost a lot but I've found a great tutorial and website that will take you step by step on how to make Mouse ears for your party!
I made these for my little one's Minnie Mouse party and they held pretty well and looked great! Plus, the bows for the Minnie ears were so simple, I'm thinking of using the idea for other crafts for my little one.
I was searching the internet like crazy because I knew there had to be an easy way to make Mouse ears without paying so much, and then I came across The Suburban Mom blog. She had an easy how to video that took you step by step on how to make these adorable and easy ears and a FREE PDF printable with the template for the ears. Even if you're not a crafter, her tutorial will help you look like a pro!
I did make some minor adjustments to my ears though, which are listed below.
1) I bought headbands already wrapped in ribbon. I found these at Hobby Lobby and you can use a 40% off coupon if they're not on sale.
2) I only inserted one foam circle in the middle. I found that the ears looked too poofy for me with two.
3) I used the thick felt instead of the yard one that The Suburban Mom used for hers. This is probably why my ears looked weird with two foam circles in the middle. I found these big rectangle felt sheets at Hobby Lobby and I was able to fit 7 ears on mine, but I also found some thick felt at Michael's in the regular paper size. I was able to fit three on the regular size.
*Here's a tip, instead of using the fabric pencil she used, you can also use a white crayon, chalk, or even a color pencil to get the tracing done.
The picture above shows the thick felt I used but the smaller one I found, far left. The middle one is the glitter material I used to make my little girl's ears, which you can also get a closer look below. The one on the far right is foam but is the same size of the other thick felt I used in case you wanted to look for it.
Other than that, I followed the exact same steps to make the ears and even the bows. These ears can make the whole party if you don't want to go all out but still want to have a memorable party! I even made my little girl's ears out of thick glitter material, shown above. Sadly they got lost at the party, but that would also be a great idea for something a little extra special.
